We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual to join our organization as a Volunteer Podcast Audio Editor. As a key member of our creative team, you will be responsible for editing, mastering, and enhancing our weekly podcast episodes. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring a professional, clear, and engaging listening experience for our audience.
Our ministry currently produces 1 podcast approximately 15-25 minutes in length and approximately 10 60-90 second ‘short’ podcasts every 2 weeks. Visit: https://walkinginstepwithgod.org/messages/ and select any message to review examples of video and podcast content.
Responsibilities:
Audio Editing & Post-Production:
- Edit raw recordings to remove filler words, long pauses, background noise, clicks, and pops.
- Trim and rearrange segments to maintain a coherent and impactful narrative flow.
- Apply equalization (EQ), compression, and normalization to ensure consistent volume levels and vocal clarity.
Sound Design & Branding:
- Seamlessly integrate podcast intros, outros, transitions, and advertisements.
- Incorporate background music and sound effects to enhance the overall production value.
- Ensure all episodes meet industry-standard loudness levels (LUFS) for various streaming platforms.
Organization and File Management:
- Maintain an efficient file structure and naming convention for all audio assets.
- Manage version control and ensure final masters are delivered in the correct formats (MP3, WAV, etc.).
- Collaborate with the team to stay on track with weekly publication deadlines.
Collaboration:
- Attend occasional virtual meetings to discuss episode themes and creative direction.
- Implement feedback from producers to refine the final sound.
Qualifications:
- Software Proficiency: Experience with audio workstations such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, Logic Pro, or Pro Tools.
- Technical Ear: Strong attention to detail regarding audio consistency, pacing, and tone.
- Equipment: Access to the necessary hardware (computer, high-quality headphones/monitors) and software for remote editing.
- Communication: Ability to work independently while staying connected with a remote team.
- Portfolio: A sample of previous audio editing or podcast work is highly preferred.
