We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual to join our organization as a volunteer team-lead video/audio editor. As part of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the editing and enhancing content for our video projects and podcast episodes. Your expertise will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and professionalism of our multimedia productions. This is a remote volunteer position, and you will collaborate with our content creators and other video/audio editors to deliver engaging and visually appealing material.
Our ministry currently produces 1 podcast and video approximately 15-25 minutes in length bi-weekly and up to 30+ ~60-second ‘shorts’ per week. Responsibilities:
1. Video Production Oversight:
- Direct the editing of raw video footage to ensure the team produces engaging and impactful content that aligns with the ministry’s vision.
- Oversee narrative flow, ensuring editors maintain a coherent storyline, message, and pacing across all video projects.
- Supervise the integration of multimedia elements, including audio synchronization, music, sound effects, and visual overlays.
- Maintain quality control for visual consistency, color grading, formatting, and compression across various platforms.
2. Audio Production Oversight:
- Manage the audio post-production process, ensuring all recordings are cleaned of background noise and artifacts.
- Ensure sonic excellence and consistency, overseeing volume leveling, equalization, and the professional application of effects.
- Review podcast compositions, ensuring intros, outros, and transitions are seamless and enhance the listener experience.
3. Strategic Workflow & File Management:
- Establish and enforce an efficient file structure for all video and audio assets to ensure team-wide organization.
- Implement version control and labeling standards to streamline the collaborative editing process.
- Coordinate project timelines, ensuring the team meets bi-weekly production schedules and high-volume “short” content deadlines.
- Monitor team bandwidth and workflow bottlenecks, proactively communicating headcount requirements to leadership to ensure volunteer participation levels align with production demands.
4. Leadership & Creative Collaboration:
- Act as the primary liaison between content creators, producers, and the editing team to translate project requirements into finished products.
- Coordinate virtual team meetings to discuss creative direction, technical requirements, and project updates.
- Provide final approval on all content, incorporating feedback and directing necessary revisions in a timely manner.
- Drive continuous improvement by suggesting creative innovations and technical enhancements to the production workflow.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead and manage a diverse video and audio editing team, ensuring cohesive and efficient workflows for both seasoned professionals and entry-level volunteers.
- Establish a clear organizational structure and workflow that allows less experienced volunteers to learn, develop their skills, and contribute meaningfully.
- Assign tasks and projects based on individual expertise while identifying opportunities for peer-to-peer training.
- Mentor team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance to foster their professional and creative growth.
- Monitor project timelines and ensure high-quality standards are met across all skill levels.
Qualifications:
- Team leadership experience is a requirement for this role. We are seeking a leader who possesses deep professional expertise in either video or audio editing and has the functional knowledge to oversee both workstreams.
- Familiarity with professional-grade video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.
- Familiarity with professional audio editing software such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc.
- Ability to manage workflows, set expectations, and provide creative direction to a team of varying skill levels.
- A desire to build structures that help less-skilled volunteers grow while effectively collaborating with seasoned pros.
- Strong creative and storytelling skills with an eye (or ear) for detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage project timelines, and meet deadlines.
- A portfolio or samples of previous work is required to demonstrate technical proficiency.
